Pakistani Gulabi is a dairy breed of goats with elongated ears and a humpback nose. Animals are distinguished by high milkiness and unusual appearance; they are highly valued for tasty and healthy milk, tender meat. Gulabi are rare on livestock farms in Russia, more often in agriculture in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, in the territory of Arab countries, and India.
Origin of breed
Gulabs were withdrawn on the border of India and Pakistan in the areas of Rakhnapur, Khazar Abad, Sindh. For selection, local white goats and representatives of the Camori breed were used. The second name in the local dialect is Basi.
Description of Gulabi goats
Pakistani goats are attracted by their unusual appearance, snow-white coat and unpretentiousness in food. In height, adult animals reach about 1 m at the withers. Males at the age of 18 months weigh 70, females - 50 kg.
The maximum weight of adults is 90 kg.
A slender physique, an elongated neck and a nose with a hump give the goats a graceful appearance. Long ears distinguish Gulabi from other dairy breeds. Pakistanis cut them and wrap them in a tube. Goats have a thick coat, which makes them frost-resistant and hardy at low temperatures. Gulabs quickly adapt even to severe Siberian frosts, but they still need warmth for maintenance. The content of goats in winter is described in more detail in the next article.
The character of the males is stubborn, wayward. Females by nature are more flexible, make good contact with people. Gulabi goats have intelligence.
Breeders claim that they can think and understand the commands of a person, reminiscent of cats in behavior.
Productivity Characteristic
Since the goats of this breed are an expensive acquisition, before buying a breeder, milk yield and other productivity characteristics are of interest. Gulabi wool is in price. Gulabi has tasty, tender meat and milk of 5% fat content. For a day, you can milk 1.5-2 liters. How much milk a goat can produce is described in another article.
The goat is adapted for machine milking, which at times increases the rate of milk transfer. During lactation, you can get from 400 to 720 liters of healthy milk.

Breeding and care
So that the animal does not get sick, brings good milk yield and simply pleases the breeder, follow these care rules:
- Habitat. Goats need warmth and comfort, so there should be no drafts or dampness in the barn. Permissible humidity limit is 75%. Take the windows to the south, the height from the floor is 1.5 m. In winter, maintain the temperature +5 degrees, in the summer +19 degrees. Cover the adobe platform with peat, sawdust and straw from above. In the warm season, regularly remove manure so that the infection does not multiply. In winter, there is no need for regular cleaning; it is better to keep warm for goats.
- Goat content. For sustainable immunity, include green food with vitamins and valuable trace elements in the Gulabi diet. Graze goats in fields and forests, avoid walking in swamps, backwaters. Dampness and drafts on pastures worsen the animal’s health, the goat can get sick or even die. Animals love light and heat, so provide them with decent living conditions, and the Gulabs will be well milked.
- Animal care. Comb Pakistani goats daily. The coat is short, soft, so there will be no difficulties. To prevent the goat from becoming lice, treat soft wool with warm soda solution once a week. Clean the hooves from dirt after each grazing, otherwise the pink skin becomes inflamed.
- Feeding. Be sure to include straw, root vegetables, hay, silage, animal feed, fresh vegetables in the Gulaby diet. Shredded bran, corn, oats, barley, oak and birch brooms are useful for the animal. Do not feed the goats exclusively with grain, nutritional supplements will only improve the quality of milk, strengthen the immunity of Gulabi. Read more about goat nutrition here.

Reviews
Victor, 42 years old, farmer, Krasnodar. Already bought young Gulaby kids. They look ridiculous, ominous, but by nature kind and not shy. I got teenagers for 6 months. Settled them in the barn, the main thing - that there was a place without drafts. At first they played wild when I came to feed, then they got used to it, even rejoiced at my visits. They are illegible in food, they drink a lot. It is very important that there is always water in the feeders. I did not comb every day, it did not get worse. Daily milk yield - 1-1.5 liters.
Maria, 45 years old, teacher, Vitebsk. Good goats and give a lot of milk. Up to 2 liters is released per day. I noticed that he had an unusual taste, with nutty notes or something. Fat milk, nourishing, and most importantly - healthy. My grandson is very fond of. And the goats themselves are playful, friendly, but obedient. I take them to the pasture, they behave quietly, they like fresh air. I have 2 goats, I plan to breed. There are no problems with leaving, but this breed is rare, highly appreciated.
